Smith chosen as Alaska Supreme Court possibility
by Sue Deyoe ~ February 12th, 2009
Palmer Superior Court Judge Eric Smith is one of 2 attorneys that will be considered for a vacancy on Alaska’s Supreme Court. The Alaska Judicial Council completed the extensive review of the original 6 applicants for the vacancy created by the upcoming retirement of Justice Warren Matthews.
Smith and Morgan Christen were the 2 judges selected as the most qualified applicants. Governor Sarah Palin makes the final selection. She has 5 more weeks to make a decision on the appointment.
Smith has been the seated judge on a number of Susitna Valley court cases. He made the lengthy decision in the case of James Skinner Versus the Y community council last year.
