Talkeetna and Trapper Creek Elementary principal resigns

Jodi Picou, principal of the Talkeetna and Trapper Creek Elementary Schools handed in her resignation on Tuesday, April 14. Picou said, “It seemed to be the right thing to do”. Picou has been on the job since fall 2008 and has previously taught in rural Alaska schools on the North Slope and in Koyuk. Her resignation will be effective at the end of the school year in May.In a phone interview Picou told KTNA that she and her husband Robert Picou, the Su Valley High School principal, may relocate to their house in Wasilla and are open to other job opportunities either in the lower Mat-Su Valley or elsewhere. Robert Picou has not yet resigned from his position at the high school. The Mat-Su Borough School District declined to comment, citing that personnel issues are kept confidential.
