Matanuska Electric Association’s General Manager, Wayne Carmony, has been terminated.
At a special meeting Tuesday afternoon, the MEA Board of Directors passed a motion to proceed with Carmony’s termination for cause and placed him on immediate paid administrative leave pending further action by the Board. The vote was 5 in favor and with David Glines and Larry DeVilbiss voting against the action.
The action was immediate with another successful motion passed to have Carmony hand over his keys and leave the building. Staff was directed to secure his office and computer.
The termination process began in April, along with the termination of 2 other top employees, Tuckerman Babcock and Bruce Scott.
Don Zoerb, the assistant general manager at MEA, has been designated the acting general manager until further notice.
The Board’s search committee is actively working to find a new General Manager.
