Incredible Adventures sky diving team on hold; diving over the Talkeetna Airport at 12:30-2:30

The first-ever sky dive over Denali is still on hold.  As reported over the weekend, the sky diving team assembled and prepared to jump.

Incredible Adventures, based out of Florida, is an adventure company that leads sky dives, deep sea diving and other adventures around the world.  Their sky dive last year was over Everest.  This year they decided on Denali.  Six people signed up for the dive at a price tag of $25,000 a head.

A shift in winds over the mountain on Monday put the event on hold.  Tuesday, the team continued in a weather hold.  The jumpers were ready to go despite poor weather conditions.

Company president Jane Reifert says the plan today is to skydive over the Talkeetna Airport from 12:30 to 2:30 while they wait for clouds to clear over the mountain and winds to shift.  They have until 10 p.m. tonight for conditions to be right to dive over the mountain.

The company has been cautioned if they land inside the park that it will mean six months in jail and or a fine of up to $5000.  The park officials consider it a commercial venture and only 4 flight companies are authorized to land inside the park boundaries.
