by Diana Haecker ~ November 15th, 2009

On Friday  morning, Christopher Erin Rogers Jr. was sentenced in the Anchorage Superior Court to 309 years in prison with no time suspended. In April, an Anchorage jury found Rogers guilty of first-degree murder, two counts of attempted murder, robbery, assault, vehicle theft and eluding police. In December of 2007, 28-year old Christopher Rogers went on a 26- hours lasting violent rampage, killing his father with a machete in Palmer and injuring his father’s fiancée Elann Moran. Rogers fled Palmer and continued his killing spree in Anchorage, where he randomly killed 27-year old college student Jason Wenger. Rogers continued his path of random destruction and left two more wounded, including Wilderness Woman contest winner Liz Rumsey.

A separate jury trial in Palmer found Rogers guilty of murder of his father and the attempted killing of Elann Moran.

Rogers’ sentencing for those charges have been postponed from an October date and the sentencing is scheduled for January 11, 2010 in Palmer.
