KTNA is recruiting for a new General Manager. The General Manager is the executive position at the station with overall responsibility for the station’s operations, programming, and financial management. The General Manager reports to a community-elected Board of Directors and supervises the work of a staff of five. The individual selected for this position will replace outgoing manager Robert Ambrose. The deadline for applications is March 22, 2010.

After a three week break Kathleen is back with news about the night sky. The waxing gibbous moon passes bright stars and star clusters and a planet this week. There’s also mention of some anniversary and NASA events that happened last week. A correction is necessary: in this program Kathleen says that the new cupola on the ISS is called Tranquility, but that’s the name of a new cylindrical section added to Station, not the name of the bay window/cupola. Current activity on the sun’s surface warrants checks of the aurora forecast at www.gedds.alaska.edu/AuroraForecast/ every couple of days or so. And do you know who Grote Reber was?

A Denali National Park document is currently in its public comment phase and it has concession workers in Denali and others scrambling to figure out what they want for the future of the park. It is just part of a multi-phase process that may ultimately determine how much traffic will be allowed on the Denali Park Road.
