Burn permits needed come April 1

Starting April 1, residents are required to have burn permits when burning debris. Even so the upper valley still has snow on the ground, spring is the season when wild fires can start and spread.

Sunshine Transit still in repair

As of Monday, Talkeetna’s only public transportation vehicle is still out of commission. The Sunshine Transit van broke down Friday and is in the process of being repaired at Northfork Automotive. Transit organizers are en route to Wasilla to pick up parts needed to repair the van’s broken fuel pump. Mechanics hope to have the van up and running on Tuesday. Stay tuned for updates.

Tazlina Mannix wraps up successful race season

Governor Parnell introduces cruise ship head tax reduction bill

Governor Sean Parnell on Thursday, March 25, submitted legislation aimed to boost tourism and stimulate the economy in Alaska. However, the bill is trying to strike a portion of the cruise ship head tax that could potentially bring money into Talkeetna. (more…)
