Riverfront Plan may go back on the shelf

by Sue Deyoe ~ April 15th, 2010

There has been a flurry of activity this winter to plan events in Talkeetna Village Park, discussion of parking in downtown, work with the Railroad…one of the plans that briefly got pulled off the shelf and got discussed was Talkeetna’s 2004 Riverfront Management Plan.  It looks like it might go back on the shelf for now.

We actually rediscovered the plan after an informal community meeting the week following Moosedropping. The plan was on a shelf at the Railroad and it then took awhile to figure out just where in the Borough it ended up. I believe it was later found in Planning. Kudos to Talkeetna Community Council for getting a link to it placed on their site late in the summer so that any community member could download it for review.

It has not been lost on me that a fresh voice – and perhaps a new partner organization – is emerging in Chris Love and the Upper Susitna Soil & Water Conservation District. It’s too late for this summer, but perhaps implementing the Talkeetna Riverfront Management Plan can be spearheaded with efforts from those folks. (I’ll be getting ahold of you Chris!)

Thanks, KTNA, for keeping this in the news!
