Change in society needed to end domestic violence, says state coordinator

In July, Governor Sean Parnell hired a specialist to deal with the rampant domestic violence and sexual abuse occurrences in Alaska. Katie Tepas  is the person and she says that nothing less than a change in society is needed to end domestic violence. KTNA continues coverage of domestic violence issues with an overview of what Tepas’ office tries to accomplish.

Stream temperature monitoring continues in Cook Inlet

A number of individuals spoke at the recent Mat Su Salmon Symposium in Wasilla. Sue Mauger, science director at Cook Inlet keeper gave an update on their efforts in the stream temperature monitoring in clear streams in the Cook Inlet and Su Valley.  She describes what the program is about and what insight the organization hopes to gain in their on-going work.

AEA chooses Susitna Dam project; Parnell agrees

The Alaska Energy Authority announced today  that they are supporting and recommending the lower Watana Dam on the Susitna River over the Chakachamna Project.  The Authority has been expected to come out with a decision for the past couple of weeks.  Governor Parnell has responded to the decision. DOT looks at passing lanes on Parks Highway

Alaska DOT is asking for public comment on 15 different passing lane areas on the Parks Highway from milepost 163 to milepost 298.  Comments are due December 1st.
