The Talkeetna library moved one step closer to receiving a 2.8 Million Dollar Matching grant for the construction of a new library when the Alaska State House passed the 2.6 Billion dollar capital budget on Sunday.
The proposed Talkeetna Public Library and Community Resource Center had been ranked in second place to receive funds through the State’s Library Construction and Major Expansion Matching Grant program. The Library would need to provide the matching portion of the proposed 5.6 million dollar facility.
The budget now awaits the Governor’s signature.
