Evacuation ordered for Downtown Talkeetna

Mat Su Borough Emergency Operations has issued an evacuation notice for Downtown Talkeetna and East Talkeetna. The Talkeetna river is expected to crest today, and residents should prepare to evacuate immediately.
Steve Mahay and Fire Chief Ken Farina agree that flooding is imminent. The entire town is ordered to evacuate.
Red Cross shelters have been established at the Upper Susitna Senior Center and Su Valley high school will act as a secondary shelter.
