Story by KTNA’s Melis Coady
The ninety-two mile long Denali Park Road parallels the Alaska Range and travels through low valleys and high mountain passes through the
northern valley of Denali National Park. It is the only road in the park.
During summer, most traffic is restricted to buses. Shuttle buses stop for wildlife viewing, restroom stops, scenery, just like tour buses, and operate like flag stop service to drop off and pick up day hikers.
KTNA’s Melis Coady recently took a trip into Denali Park on a shuttle bus and was impressed to learn how long her driver, Frank Sutton, had
been transporting visitors in the park.
