On Friday, Alaska State Troopers responded to a report of an ATV rollover at Mile 16 of the Petersville Road. According to Troopers, Dean Hjelytman of Anchorage was driving a six-by-six ATV when he attempted to take a corner while driving to fast. The ATV rolled, and passenger Channing Jensen was thrown from the vehicle. The ATV then rolled on top of Jensen. EMS also responded, and prepared Jensen for transport. Jensen was taken by helicopter to Providence hospital in Anchorage. Hjelytman was transported by ground ambulance to Mat Su Regional. A second passenger, Jerrell Barker of Anchorage, was uninjured.
Troopers say that alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, and that none of the passengers were wearing seatbelts or helmets.
