Last night, the Su-Valley Rams played their first games of the 2015 Crowley Classic Basketball Tournament.
The girls team played first, with tip-off at 6:00 pm against the Aniak Halfbreeds. Su-Valley fell behind in the first quarter, but a thirteen point effort in the second gave them a lead that they would carry through the rest of the game. At the final buzzer, the Rams claimed a 40-23 victory. Su-Valley scoring was led by Ellie Bietsch, who made seven baskets from the field, including a trio of three-pointers.
Later, the Su-Valley boys faced off against the Sand Point Eagles. The Rams ended the first half with a two point lead. After the intermission, though, the Eagles came on strong, outscoring Su-Valley by five in the third quarter and by three points in the fourth quarter. The final score was Sand Point 46, Su-Valley 40. Sand Point was led by Colton Mack, who hit seven from the field for a total of nineteen points. Dawson Matthews led scoring for Su-Valley with thirteen.
The Rams play again tonight. The girls game begins at 6:30, and the boys tip off at 8:00.
