Nuggets: Mat-Su Salmon Partnership

Corinne Smith, the Nature Conservancy’s coordinator of the Mat-Su Salmon Partnership, talks to host Charlie Loeb about salmon habitat restoration and protection projects in the Susitna Valley. In a stream-side recording, Corinne explains how the partnership works with landowners to plan ahead on development projects and successfully restore damaged streams for healthy juvenile salmon stocks.

June Campbell Scheele reminisces about living at the Fairview Inn in 1939 as a young girl. She remembers the “one-armed bandit” slot machine that kept her busy for hours, the guy who was suspected of the Cache Creek murders, flying with a stunt pilot, and playing at the river and on Main Street. Her mother, Nola Campbell, wrote Talkeetna Cronies and Talkeetna Echoes, books about the town and its characters in the early years. Holly Stinson hosts. Audio runs about a half hour.
