Board of Game Proposals approach Comment Deadline

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game is reviewing proposed changes to the Board of Games regulations and guidelines for a variety of management and harvesting policies. The Board will meet the week of January 13th to discuss the proposed changes and adopt approved measures. Public written commentary is open until December 30th, and in-person comments will be heard at January’s meeting. (more…)

ANCHORAGE – National Aviation Day is observed on August 19th each year to celebrate the history and development of aviation. It coincides with the birthday of Orville Wright, who made the first sustained, powered flight on December 17, 1903 in a plane he and his brother Wilbur built. This twelve-second flight led to the development of the first practical airplane in 1905, and launched worldwide efforts to build better flying machines. (more…)

Borough releases revised 5 Yr Timber Harvest Schedule for comment

The Mat Su Borough has released their revised draft of the Five Year Timber Harvest Schedule for public comment.

The first draft had errors that have been corrected. The first schedule did not contain timber within operable timber areas as required by the Borough’s Natural Resource Management Units Plan. (more…)

Senator Mark Begich will be in Talkeetna on Saturday, June 4th.  He is holding a town hall style meeting at the Flying Squirrel Cafe (milepost 11 of the Talkeetna Spur Road)  to have coffee, meet and speak with constituents in the area.  The event begins at 1 pm.  Everyone is invited to attend.
