Talkeetna Community Council sends Susitna Dam concerns to legislature

The Talkeetna Community Council is busy writing letters this week.  The Council board of directors, after hearing from meeting attendees Monday evening, voted to send a letter to legislators and the governor concerning the Susitna Dam and the bills currently under consideration in Juneau. (more…)

Talkeetna receives FAA’s 150th webcam

I CAN SEE FOR MILES – The FAA has installed its 150th webcam in Alaska at the Talkeetna state airport.

On Friday afternoon, the Federal Aviation Administration unveiled their 150th webcam installed in Alaska which just happens to be at the Talkeetna Airport.  Pilots around Alaska are cheering the technology which is helping reduce accidents across the state.

Mayor DeVilbiss asserts fiscal conservative budget approach

New Mat-Su borough mayor Larry DeVilbiss presided over his first assembly meeting last week and announced that he is serious about reducing the borough’s budget. He said that he would use his veto power in the budget process to ensure that the tax impact on the 2012 budget is going to reflect a ten percent reduction. (more…)

Air Force warns not to pick up F-22 debris if found

The recovery of the downed F-22 Raptor plane near Cantwell is completed and the Army and Air Force are pulling out of the area. The Air Force recovered the remains of the pilot, Air Force Capt. Jeff Haney and spent the past week collecting plane debris from the crash site. (more…)

The pilot of a F-22 Raptor fighter jet has died in the airplane crash near Cantwell. Air Force officials said that search and rescue teams have found conclusive evidence that the pilot did not survive the crash. (more…)

Search and rescue aircraft have discovered the wreckage of an Air Force f-22 Raptor assigned to Elmendorf and Richardson Air Force bases not far from Cantwell. The search for the missing pilot continued today. (more…)
