The Talkeetna Community Council has nominated their slate for the board of directors’ election on October 5th. There are FIVE open seats for the seven member board, since Meghann Vaughan gave up her seat after taking a new job. (more…)

The final vote tallies of the evening in the Borough election show Vern Halter over Doyle Holmes in a close election. Halter’s 1049 votes to Holmes’ 864 may change after all the absentee ballots are counted. Borough officials say that could be 2 weeks from now.
Other results: The sales tax ordinance was soundly defeated. The school bond issue failed in a close vote. Talis Colberg is the new (presiding) Borough mayor; Ron Arvin beat out Michelle Church in Asembly seat 3 race, Jim Colver took Borough seat 6 in a race so close that it is possible it could go to Jim Turner depending on absentee votes.
New School Board members are Erik Cordero, Sarah Welton, Mike Dunleavy
There was a 21.7% voter turnout overall for the election.
