The Alaska Bureau of Investigation is investigating the death of a six-year old child after emergency services were called out on Friday to a home off Willow-Fishhook Road. Troopers say that they received a report of a child not breathing on Friday at 8:21 a.m. Troopers say that the child, Leaa Petros, was pronounced dead on scene. (more…)

TALKEETNA— The Mat-Su Borough animal shelter is bursting at its seams as animal control officials removed 157 malnourished dogs on Tuesday night from a dog breeder in the Montana Creek area and placed them in their care.[audio:http://ktna.org/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/20110111-dogs.mp3|titles=Dog breeder arrested for animal cruelty]
The trial of Mary Joe Burgener was postponed indefinitely this morning (tues) when she has agreed to a change of plea presented to her earlier.
According to the agreement with the court, she will serve 2 years with a one year suspension. She then serves two years of probation and will undergo treatment.
Richard Burgener says he is satisfied with the agreement. Mary Joe Burgener was charged with custodial interference in the first degree. She remains at Hiland Correctional Facility.

The trial of Mary Joe Burgener, formerly of Talkeetna, is set to begin tomorrow morning in Palmer Court.
Burgener is accused of taking her child out of state and not notifying the father, as well as unlawful flight to avoid prosecution. (more…)
The Alaska Wildlife Troopers from the Talkeetna Post are asking for the public’s help to identify suspects in the shooting of 2 moose with a bow and arrow in the Shirley Lake and Michigan street area in Willow. The incidents occurred late in 2010 and Troopers are asking the public for assistance. (more…)
