Railroad bill for north access dies

A controversy dealing with access along the northern boundary of Denali National Park, in the form of a railroad, has come to a close.  In 2001, a bill passed thru the Alaska state legislature that would have a potentially damaging impact on the northern boundary of the Park OR according to supporters, the project might bring millions of visitors to Healy. Talkeetna Historical Society lawsuit continues

At the same time the Board of the Talkeetna Historical Society starts planning for the 2009 Moose Dropping Festival, they find themselves still bogged down in a lawsuit from 2007.  The Mat Su Borough is also named in the real estate matter between the Society and Steve Van Troba.

Historical Society looks at remaining pieces of Belle’s Barn

The Talkeetna Historical Society has a dilemma. A kiosk will be placed at the end of main street as a memorial to the historical Belle’s Barn, but not much is left of the structure. The Society’s Board has discussed what the future of the remaining pieces might be.
