The 39th Iditarod came to a close Sunday evening with the Iditarod banquet.  Both Talkeetna mushers came into Nome over the weekend, in 38th and 46th place respectively.

John Baker is the winner of the 39^th Iditarod Trail Sled Dog Race and is the first Inupiaq since 1976 to win the race.  His team raced under the burled arches in Nome at 9:46 this morning. Baker has set the record for the fastest time to Nome in 8 days 19 hours and 46 minutes..  Sue Deyoe spoke with reporter Diana Haecker, who was at the finish line:
