MEA’s Round Up Program asks for opt out customers

Matanuska Electric Association customers recently received information on a decision made by voters at the last MEA annual meeting.

MEA has started a round UP program.  Customers bills will be rounded up to the nearest dollar and the 50 cents or less will be given to charities in the valley that apply for the program. (more…)

MEA warns of possible power outages in storm

Matanuska Electric Association is already feeling the brunt of the snow storm that is sweeping across western and south central Alaska.  MEA spokesperson Cheryl Heinze says that the town of Willow is experiencing issues with overloaded branches affecting power lines.

She asks MEA customers to be prepared for outages as the snow continues to fall.  If the snow turns to rain, then there is a problem with ice.  Customers should prepare for possible outages throughout the evening and into Friday morning, or as long as the storm continues.  Heinze says its better to be prepared than not.

There is a possibility that the Susitna Valley will receive 20 inches of snow accumulation

Susitna Council solicits public input how to spend state grants
