The Mat-Su Borough’s special election to determine a new mayor is set for January 11. Eight candidates threw their hats in the ring and are currently campaigning to win borough residents’ votes. KTNA introduces the candidates, starting with  Brian Sullivan.

The State’s Division of Elections registered a statewide voter turn out of  40.8 percent and in the upper Susitna valley, voters turned out in higher numbers than ever before. (more…)

Lt. Governor Craig Campbell has asked that the write-in ballots in Tuesday’s state-wide election get counted earlier than the scheduled date of November 18th.  The division of elections plans on counting those ballots starting November 10th.  They believe the process will take three days. Go to the state website for District 15 results as well as tallies statewide.

The Susitna Community Council is in the process of finalizing its 501(C)3 status as a federally recognized non-profit organization. With the formalization of the status, the council is a step closer to receive the state’s revenue share funds that have accumulated over the past three years. (more…)
