In last night’s regular Mat-Su Borough assembly meeting, mayor Talis Colberg tendered his resignation. Starting August 16, Colberg is the new Mat-Su College director and his resignation from the mayoral post was requested by UAA chancellor Fran Ulmer. This comes as the borough is looking for a new manager and is also seeking an answer from voters whether or not to change the borough being run by a strong mayor rather than a manager.
The Talkeetna Community Council meeting Monday night gave residents a chance to listen to the meeting without leaving their homes. (more…)

U.S. Senator Lisa Murkowski paid a rare visit to Talkeetna to hold a townhall meeting. While Murkowski’s seat in the Senate is up for election this fall, she said that this visit was not about the elections, but rather part of a listening session tour across the state.
Governor Sean Parnell signed into law a two point eight billion dollar state budget for capital spending this morning. (more…)
