Host Holly Stinson continues her conversation with Eleanor Trepte Martin, who lived in the Susitna Valley in the twenties and thirties. She recalls mining in the Dutch Hills west of Trapper Creek, and trapping on the Yentna River in the winter.

Host Holly Stinson visits with Eleanor Trepte Martin, who arrived in Alaska as a six- year-old in 1927. She and her mother Margueritte made their way to Susitna Station and eventually ended up in Talkeetna when her mother married Mike Trepte. Eleanor recalls mining in the Dutch Hills during the summer, and trapping along the Yentna River in the winter. Audio runs about a half hour.

Host  Holly Stinson visits with June Scheele about the time 70 years ago in 1939, when she arrived in Talkeetna with her family.  The Scheeles had just purchased the Fairview Inn with another couple.  June’s mother, Nola Campbell, wrote the well-known books Talkeetna Cronie and Talkeetna Echoes.
