After long exhaustive discussions between Mat Su Borough officals and insurance companies, there is finally an end.  The Borough can now re-coop the funds used to build the brand new Su Valley High School after a fire destroyed in the building in 2007.

The Mat-Su Borough School Board held their regular meeting at the new Su Valley Highschool on Wednesday. The board heard from community members thanking the board for their cooperation to build the new state-of-the-art facility. But they were also hearing questions and concerns regarding furnishing and completely equipping the school with all supplies needed.

The Susitna Valley High School girls and boys basketball teams travelled to Healy on Thursday to participate in a three day tournament, the Tri-Valley Invitational. The boys defeated Huslia on Thursday, and defeated Northway on Friday to gain entrance into the Ship, the tournament championship game. North Pole JV played twice on Friday, and beat Cordova JV and Tri-Valley to earn their way into the title game. The boys championship game was the last of eighteen games played over a three day span, and, perhaps, the most exciting. Click on the links below to listen to the game, quarter by quarter. Students and staff headed back to school this week in a jumble –figuring out where classrooms where, how phones worked, missing library shelves and a myriad of other minor details.  Anyone else walking into the school would think it the happiest school on earth.

On their last day of school before the Christmas break, Su Valley Junior and Senior High School students left their temporary class rooms in the portables and are preparing to move into their brand new school building across the street. When students are coming back to school on January 4, it will be to a whole new setting.
