Following a unique fundraiser model pioneered in Fairbanks, two Talkeetna non-profits found a creative way to tap into tourism dollars flowing into the community. The Denali Arts Council and the Sunshine Transit teamed up to offer tourists a real Alaska experience and make some money in the process.

A request for two new vehicles for the Sunshine Transit system was spared from Governor Sean Parnell’s red pen slashing through the state budget. (more…)
The Sunshine Transit Coalition thought they were getting a fast, free deal two weeks ago when they were offered a used vehicle to add to the fleet of one. What followed was a paper and legal nightmare, involving the Talkeetna Troopers and Palmer DMV. It should soon be over.
