Sunshine Transit to get mobility employee

The Sunshine Transit service has received two new grants that may mean service changes on the horizon. The newest grants mean an employee that will examine the efficiencies of the service and new service possibilities.  Sue Deyoe has more on Sunshine transit’s latest grants…

On Monday, the Sunshine Transit service had a shiny new exterior.  A large white 12 passenger van is now traveling the Spur road as part of the public transportation system for Talkeetna. But it is a long time coming and took a lot of effort by several people

Choose Respect walk scheduled Saturday

Over 60 communities in Alaska are taking part in the Governor’s Choose Respect campaign.  An Upper Susitna Support group has been planning an event for months and has scheduled their walk for respect on Saturday, rather than next Thursday, the day the Governor’s march is held in Anchorage.  (for the stories mentioned, go to our archives for more information)

Talkeetna council approves revenue share projects

The Talkeetna Community Council Board of Directors has committed to holding effective, short meetings, lasting no more than 2 hours.

The council met Monday night for the regular monthly meeting.  Council chair, Sharon Montagnino reported on a work session the Board had in December and said they would do everything in their power to hold brief meetings, but being effective and accomplishing a lot at the same time. (more…)

Talkeetna Council receives 8 applications for revenue sharing

The Talkeetna Community Council held a very short meeting Monday evening.  All business was completed within an hour and the meeting adjourned at 8 pm.

The only committee report came from revenue sharing committee chair Howard Carbone.  He reported that 8 applications have been received for the revenue sharing grant of $22,200. (more…)
