Unique program brings tourists and locals together

Following a unique fundraiser model pioneered in Fairbanks, two Talkeetna non-profits found a creative way to tap into tourism dollars flowing into the community. The Denali Arts Council and the Sunshine Transit teamed up to offer tourists a real Alaska experience and make some money in the process.

The Sunshine Transit Coalition thought they were getting a fast, free deal two weeks ago when they were offered a used vehicle to add to the fleet of one.  What followed was a paper and legal nightmare, involving the Talkeetna Troopers and Palmer DMV.  It should soon be over.

Sunshine Transit makes cuts to scheduled van service

Sunshine Transit has had to make needed cuts in their afternoon service.  The group is trying to act fast to make changes necessary to keep the service running.  This story changed from its original run on Thursday’s noon broadcast.

SUNSHINE TRANSIT— When winter moved in last Wednesday in form of a steady and substantial snowfall, the free Sunshine Transit running from downtown Talkeetna via the Sunshine Community Health Center to the Parks Highway and back provided a  safe way to get around.
