The Mat Su Borough Assembly approved the Caswell Lakes Fire Service Area and established the Caswell Board of Supervisors, Tuesday night at their regular meeting. The Board of Supervisors will be a 3 member board with 3 year terms.
The residents of the Caswell Lakes and Kashwitna area voted in Novembers’ election to have their own fire service area.
Starting on January first, the area between Willow and the Susitna junction, otherwise known as the Y, was covered for fire service. Until the Caswell area is able to get a building to house their fire equipment, there will be a united effort between Talkeetna and Willow fire areas to provide the area with emergency service when it is needed. Fire service areas within Mat Su Borough have a mutual aid agreement and help each other when the situation warrants it.
Borough Assembly meetings are held the first and third Tuesday of every month.
