Talkeetna resident Tazlina Mannix won’t be heading to Europe this week. She has made a personal decision to stay in Anchorage and re-focus her training. She was chosen as one of six women to represent the United States in the Under-23 Championship races held in France at the end of this week.
In an email to KTNA, Mannix explained that she has been having issues with her immune system this season and feels that her body is not in the place where she could perform at her peak in Europe.
A dedicated world-class Nordic skier, Mannix calls this a bump in the road. She will stay home to train and focus on future races. It is the first winter in over five years she will not be racing in Europe.
