The Trapper Creek Community Council is setting wheels in motion to incorporate as a non-profit. The group voted almost unanimously to become a non-profit corporation, joining other local councils with that status. Talkeetna Community Council is a 501(c)3 non-profit, and the Susitna Community Council already has submitted its application for non-profit status to the Internal Revenue Service.
The Trapper Creek Council also discussed the need for a bike trail that would run from the Parks Highway to Moose Creek. The proposed trail has been discussed for years, but has never been funded. Three years ago the council sent a letter to the governor asking for the trail as a safety measure for cyclists, pedestrians and children. The council encouraged resident Rick Ernst to keep working the bike trail concept.
The council also hopes to move towards finishing their own comp plan, and it will look at the Chase, Talkeetna and Susitna plans as examples.
Thanks to Rick Ernst, who helped with this report.
