Caswell resident charged with felony assault

Alaska State Troopers have arrested a Caswell Lakes area man on felony assault charges.

Last week, a neighbor of Siegfried Pederson of Caswell Lakes, reported to the Troopers that Pederson had discharged a handgun following a verbal confrontation. Trooper investigation found that Pederson had fired a gun at a neighbor following a complaint over a ‘slow down, child at play’ sign being erected in the neighborhood asking residents to use caution in the area.
Two hours after the original confrontation, Pederson returned to the residence and fired a second round that hit the neighbor’s house and damaged a window.

On Friday, almost a week after the initial complaint, Troopers and several other agencies were involved in contacting Pederson. He initially did not stop his vehicle as Troopers tried to arrest him. There was a brief pursuit with several patrol vehicles. He was arrested without injury and charged with misconduct involving weapons, assault and criminal mischief. The service of the arrest warrant was a joint operation including Alaska Bureau of Alcohol and Drug Enforcement, SERT, State Troopers, Wasilla Police, Palmer Police and Anchorage Police Department.

The investigation in the incident is continuing.
