The Talkeetna Community Council will be meeting at Whole Wheat Radio again for their July meeting.
The regularly scheduled meeting will be Monday, July 5th at 7 pm. Residents of the council area can either attend the meeting live at Whole Wheat, on Birch Creek Boulevard, or listen in to the meeting if they have streaming capabilities on their computer.
Last month, at least 7 different residents tuned in on the internet and listened to the meeting from their own homes. The council made a decision at the end of the meeting to hold the July meeting at Whole Wheat as well.
The only new business on the agenda is a discussion of overflights over the town. The National Park Service formed an overflights advisory committee about two years ago and the group has on-going discussions about flights and flight paths to Mt. McKinley and well as noise issues that concern climbers and backpackers in Denali National Park. At the last overflights meeting, a few Talkeetna area residents attended to voice their concern about rising levels of noise from air traffic over their homes. Flights advisory committee member Brian Okonek asked that the issue be placed on the community council’s agenda to speak about any concerns at a local level.
