Dell settles suit with Alaskans

Alaska Attorney General Talis Colberg announced that the state has reached a settlement with Dell, Inc. Consumers who purchased a Dell computer between April first of 2005 and January 12, 2009 may be eligible for a refund.

Consumers nationwide reported applying for Dell-advertised zero interest financing and then were later charged interest. Others had troubles obtaining warranty service on their Dell computers. Colberg says it is unknown how many Alaskan consumers are eligible due to the incurred financial losses.

Dell admits no wrongdoing but has agreed to pay $25 thousand in restitution to eligible Alaskan consumers who file a claim by April 12th. Dell has reached the same agreement with 30 other states. Consumers can request a claim form over the internet, or by calling the Attorney General’s office in Anchorage at 1-888-576-2529.
