When the school year started on August 19th, local families had a number of options for how their children would attend classes.

One of those options is Mat-Su Central School, a homeschool program through the district. For those enrolling in their local schools, there was an option for either primarily in-person learning or all virtual classes.

According to data provided by the Mat-Su Borough School District to KTNA, about a quarter of local families opted for the all-digital option. Willow Elementary, Talkeetna Elementary, and Su Valley Junior-Senior High School all report that between twenty-six and twenty-eight percent of their students will be attending classes via the Mat-Su Virtual Learning system. Trapper Creek Elementary’s enrollment is significantly smaller, with about a dozen students, total.

The numbers for the Northern Susitna Valley line up fairly closely with numbers throughout the Mat-Su Borough School District, [according to Superintendent Dr. Randy Trani](https://www.buzzsprout.com/1278410/5001638?fbclid=IwAR1vG1qxPAaOy-R0KQu75s-w4u3crkdeLMBqAF2BHAe12bsAaNOr7VUPe-Y&ref=ktna.org).
