# BBB takes nominations for awards to outstanding businesses, high school students

The [Better Business Bureau](http://www.alaska.bbb.org/?ref=ktna.org) is looking for nominations of outstanding businesses in the Alaska, Oregon and Washington area for their [Business of the Year torch awards](http://alaska.bbb.org/boyawards?ref=ktna.org). The deadline to nominate a business is December 1\. The BBB Torch award is recognizing businesses that make a difference through business ethics, customer service, innovative business practices and community involvement.

The Better Business Bureau also invites high school students to apply for the [BBB Foundation’s](http://alaska.bbb.org/scholarship?ref=ktna.org) “Students of Integrity Scholarship” awards. The foundation gives out a $1,000 scholarship to an Alaskan high school student graduating in 2011 or 2012.
