The Alaska State legislature appropriated $57 million for the design and further studies on the proposed [railroad extension](http://www.portmacrail.com/?ref=ktna.org), connecting [Port MacKenzie](http://www.matsugov.us/Port/?ref=ktna.org) to the Interior.
