Nearly $1.8 million is now approved for constructing a new bridge in Trapper Creek. The existing bridge is more than 30 years old and serves several landowners at the southern end of Bradley Road and according to Mat-Su Borough Engineer Mike Campfield, has documented problems.

Campfield says the bridge replacement will improve public safety, maintain reliable access for residents and emergency services, and provide a structure that meets current design standards.

A temporary crossing will be placed prior to removing the existing bridge. Campfield says it’s likely the contractor will begin removing trees as early as April 2027\. The bypass will be built as soon as the ground is thawed in spring.

Construction is expected to begin as early as May and complete by the end of August 2027.
