The Friends of the Talkeetna Library host computer classes every 2nd and 4th Friday from 1 to 3pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. The next class is on March 13th and covers Basic Internet. The Denali Arts Council is showing the film The Last King at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar on Friday, March 13th.  This R-rated movie takes place in 1204 in Norway, where a couple of ski champions try to protect a royal baby. Costumes are encouraged. Doors at 7:30, Film starts at 8pm.

The Denali Nordic Ski Club hosts the annual Oosik Classic Ski Race this Saturday, March 14th. The race start is at the mile 11 gravel pit off the Talkeetna Spur Road. Jr. Oosik starts at 10:00am, the 25K Race starts at 12:15pm and the 50K Race begins at 12pm. Racers may be crossing the finish line by the Boat Launch off of F Street in East Talkeetna between 1 and 6 pm. Please use caution when driving in race areas. Talkeetna Library hosts their Tween Page to Screen program on Saturday, March 14 from 5 to 7pm. The movie this month is Inkheart, based on the book by Cornelia Funke. Tweens aged 9 to 12 are invited to discuss the book, enjoy the movie and share some pizza Pie.

The Roland Roberts Band will perform at the Official Oosik afterparty Saturday, March 14th at the Sheldon Community Arts Hangar. Doors open at 7:30pm and music starts at 8pm. Tickets available at denaliartscouncil.org

Talkeetna Recycling is closed today due to high winds and negative windchill temperatures. They are normally open on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 12:00 to 4:00 pm at the Talkeetna Transfer station. KTNA and Su Valley High School are collaborating to offer a Radio Journalism Afterschool Club. This Club is open to all Su Valley students, from middle to high school level. The Club will meet Wednesdays from 3:15-4:15pm for the remainder of the school year at Su Valley High School. The Talkeetna Community Council is forming a special ad hoc Mainstreet Improvement Committee. They will meet at 6:30pm this Wednesday, March 18th at the Denali Education Center. Agenda items include the selection of officers, the committee goal and brainstorming ideas. All are welcome to attend.

The Denali Nordic Ski Club Board of Directors is meeting on Thursday, March 19th at 6:15 pm at the Talkeetna Public Library. All are welcome.

The Upper Susitna Seniors are hosting a Spaghetti Dinner Fundraiser at the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center on Friday, March 20th beginning at 6pm. All are welcome to purchase a dinner of spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. There will also be a silent auction. All proceeds go towards the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center and helping to cover the cost of a new septic system for the building. For more information you may call (907)733-6200.
