Soils in the Mat-Su Valley typically lack some essential minerals\, so crops are bitter or get sick. Avoid nutrient deficiency by learning which organic fertilizers to choose\, and how much to apply. Discover secrets to raising chemical-free\, nutrient-packed foods in the region through the thoughtful use of organic fertilizers. This 90-minute course will meet for 1 day only from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Class cost is $25. The instructor presents the material via a slideshow and with hands-on demonstrations.

Bib pickup is at 11:30am at Sheldon Community Arts Hangar and the race starts at 12pm\, winding through some soggy spring snow along the Chase Trail\, and finishing at the Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge. DESCRIPTION:Mat-Su College hosts Organic Gardening: Build Your Soil’s Microbe Bank. This is an in-person organic gardening class that meets at Mat-Su College in the Snodgrass Hall (SGH) Building\, first floor in Room 117. Your soil may have all the minerals in the world–but they are useless if your garden lacks the microorganisms to deliver them to your plants. But how? Which ones? This class offers practical guidance to help your soil with helpful microbes. This 90-minute course will meet for 1 day only from 12:00-1:30 p.m. Class cost is $25. The instructor presents the material via a slideshow and with hands-on demonstrations.
