DESCRIPTION:The Alaska Division of Forestry has a burn permit suspension in effect for the Mat-Su Borough. A burn permit suspension means no burning of burn barrels\, debris piles\, or lawn burns. Campfires smaller than 3ft in diameter for the purpose of warming\, cooking\, or signaling are still allowed. Adequate clearance away from combustibles and attendance until cold to the touch are still required for campfires. Any approved fire\, even a small one should be undertaken with extreme caution and vigilance at this time of year. SUMMARY:Summer Reading Program - Talkeetna Public Library
DESCRIPTION:The Talkeetna Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is on Thursday\, July 17th with the following activities: \n\nStorytime begins 11am with a snack\, stories\, and a craft. Attendees will meet some Iditarod dogs and hear Heather Sirtola talk about her dog mushing adventures.\nLunch on the Lawn is at 12pm.\nThe Summer Reading Program for all ages begins at 1pm. This week Solstice Rescue Dogs will be at the library with dogs that are specially trained to rescue people from danger.\nThere are 3 more weeks of activities and reading incentives\, all ages are welcome to attend. All reading logs must be turned in by Noon on Thursday\, August 7th.\n\nFor more information on these and other programs\, you may visit the Talkeetna Library Monday through Saturday\, 11am to 6pm\, or call 907-861-7645.
