The Susitna Community Council closed its nomination process for the upcoming November council elections and came up with candidates to fill threeopen seats on the board of directors and two alternate seats. The incumbents of the three regular seats up for election are Cari Sayre, Terrence Shanigan and Tami Hamler. Hamler and Sayre decided not to run for re-election, but said they will remain actively involved in the council. Shanigan has filed to run again.

Justin Koles and Blaine Humphries attended the regular monthly council meeting on Thursday and declared their candidacy to run for regular seats on the board of directors. Ken “Panic” Holbrook was also present but withdrew his name from the list of candidates seeking election for a regular seat. He opted to run for one of the alternate seats. Eric Runstrom, already an alternate, is running again for one of the two alternate seats.

Alternate Scott Holcomb was appointed to fill the remainder of Wade Bartel’s term. Bartel resigned from the board citing personal time constraints.

The council holds its election on November 4 at the Upper Susitna Senior Center.
