The final vote tallies of the evening in the [Borough election](http://www.matsugov.us/?ref=ktna.org) show Vern Halter over Doyle Holmes in a close election. Halter’s 1049 votes to Holmes’ 864 may change after all the absentee ballots are counted. Borough officials say that could be 2 weeks from now.

Other results: The sales tax ordinance was soundly defeated. The school bond issue failed in a close vote. Talis Colberg is the new (presiding) Borough mayor; Ron Arvin beat out Michelle Church in Asembly seat 3 race, Jim Colver took Borough seat 6 in a race so close that it is possible it could go to Jim Turner depending on absentee votes.

New School Board members are Erik Cordero, Sarah Welton, Mike Dunleavy

There was a 21.7% voter turnout overall for the election.
