the Northern Susitna Institute received good news for their bid to purchase the downtown Talkeetna property that they are currently leasing. On December 5th the Rasmuson board of directors awarded NSI a matching grant up to $150,000 towards the purchase and renovation of the building.
Rasmuson Communications Director Cassandra Stalzer says the grant is a one-to-one match for funds raised, including funding they raise privately.

NSI has one year to fulfill the terms of their grant and raise as much as they can to leverage the $150,000 match. The end date will be Dec. 31, 2013\. Stalzer says private donations such as those made through the Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend’s Pick-Click-Give program are eligible.

In a press release, NSI Board President Erin Aulman said the Non-profit will be working hard to identify the matching revenue that will assure the purchase of what, in time, will become a landmark of opportunity for which the community is known.
