*Update:* The attached audio is from Bob Shindelar, incident commander trainee with Pacific Northwest Incident Management Team 12\. He and the rest of his team will be leaving the Northern Susitna Valley on Tuesday morning.

Progress continues on the Montana Creek and Malaspina Fires. As of Sunday, the Montana Creek Fire is estimated at 367 and is sixty percent contained. The Malaspina Fire is estimated at eighty-five acres, and is fifty percent contained. The cause of both fires remains officially undetermined.

According to Sunday’s update, little smoke was detected from either fire.

As work on the fires progresses, the assets to fight them are being downsized. Incident command will return to the Alaska Division of Forestry. Two crews, four engines, one water tender, and one helicopter remain assigned to the fires.
