# State proposes adding state landmarks register

The [state of Alaska](http://www.dnr.alaska.gov/parks/oha/regchanges.htm?ref=ktna.org) is proposing some changes in the department of history and archeology which would add a Landmarks Register. The addition of the registry would allow Alaskan buildings with historic significance to be listed with the state without trying to qualify for the [National Register of Historic Places](http://www.nps.gov/nr/?ref=ktna.org). In turn, all buildings listed on the National Register would automatically be added to the State.
