Late Friday afternoon, water from the Talkeetna river rushed into East Talkeetna neighborhoods, making it as far as the Talkeetna State Airport. Reports claimed that water had covered portions of the runway at the airstrip. Overnight, Mat-Su borough workers and volunteers dug a channel to divert water toward the Twister Creek slough.
