On Saturday, a tanker truck rolled over near mile 136 of the Denali Highway. According to the Alaska State Troopers, the driver lost control of the truck, which went into a ditch before rolling over. In the process, the fuel tank was damaged, and some of the diesel and fuel oil that was being transported began leaking. According to Mark Sielaff at the Alaska Department of Environmental Conservation, about 260 gallons of fuel leaked from the tanker. Teams from the DEC and Nenana Heating Services responded in order to prevent the fuel from contaminating local groundwater. Sielaff says that most of the cleanup was completed by Labor Day.

The driver of the tanker, Roger Ketzler of Nenana, suffered minor injures and was transported to Fairbanks Memorial Hospital for treatment.
