Over the past two days, three new fires have started in the Susitna Valley. All of them are currently classified as contained.

The first to start was the Old Montana Creek Road Fire, which began on Wednesday east of where Montana Creek Road intersects with the Parks Highway. It is listed as human-caused, but no specific cause is mentioned. As of Friday morning, that fire is listed at just under a third of an acre and is being monitored.

On Thursday, two fires started further south. The Peaceful Place Fire is located between Big Beaver Lake and Big Lake Road. Its cause is currently undetermined, and it grew to a fifth of an acre before being contained.

The fire that drew the most attention on Thursday is the Armstrong Fire in Houston. That fire started near the Parks Highway and prompted an alert from the Alaska State Troopers via Nixle. The Armstrong Fire grew to about two-and-a-half acres. As of Friday morning, it is considered contained, and firefighters are still on-scene.
