ACA supports “bullet line” through Denali Park

Alaska’s conservation coalition is now on record supporting the “bullet” gasline along the Parks Highway routing option throughDenali National Park.

The Alaska Conservation Alliance – A-C-A – held two briefings with ENSTAR’s President, Colleen Starring, who convinced the conservation group to support an unresolved section of the gas company’s preferred route through the national park.

ACA’s executive director says the conservation community is serious about being a constructive partner in securing Alaska’s energy future.  They released a formal statement announcing their the decision.

The action also includes supporting a hydro power project near Mount Spurr.

The bullet line discussions continue in the Alaska Legislature.  Two bills have been introduced by Governor Palin concerning the bullet line. Senate Bill 135 establishes that the Alaska Natural Gas Development Authority’s mission allows natural gas from sources anywhere in the state to be used for in state demands.  Senate Bill 136, referred to as AGIA Junior, addresses rights of way for an intra state pipeline.
